During the long lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, a small cake lovingly prepared by a mother for her three children marked the beginning of a sweet journey known as Milans Pastries. The story of this homemade cake business, which has now made a mark in many hearts, began with a small twist in the life of Asha, a resident of Kothamangalam.
In the beginning, these sweet treats were made only for her own children. However, when Asha started sharing her kitchen magic with the sisters and teachers at school, as well as with her friends and husband, everyone welcomed it with great enthusiasm. When the demand for selling the cakes arose, Asha did not let go of the idea but turned it into a dream.
Social media became Asha’s starting point. Through statuses and posts, Milans Pastries began to gain recognition. When cakes were delivered to COVID centers for small birthday celebrations, it didn’t take long for the attention to grow. Cakes brought by Asha and her daughter Mithu quickly won people’s hearts. Asha, a Malayalam teacher who also studied fashion designing and dance, is now writing a new chapter in her life, a story of success built on self-confidence and hard work. Even while continuing her school job, she continued baking from home.

The cake’s figurine models, fonts, and designs are done with precision by her daughter Mithu and her creativity. Home delivery is available, especially without any charge within a 5-kilometer radius. For deliveries outside that radius, a small fee is charged. Cakes ordered by people living abroad for their loved ones in Kerala are delivered along with gift hampers and surprise video packages.
Milans Pastries offers a wide range of treats including doughnuts, buns, sikkels, macarons, cookies, and puddings. One of the most popular cakes is the “Spanish Delight.” Another hit item is the Tender Coconut Cake. During peak seasons, they can prepare 8-10 cakes a day. All the events at the residence of Antony John M.L.A. in Kothamangalam are catered by Asha’s cakes. Businesses like Paitakkulam Marble place pre-orders every year for Christmas, typically ordering 15 to 20 of Asha’s masterpiece Spanish Delight cakes. Many well-known organizations like the Kothamangalam Event Management Team, Pitta Pallil Agencies, and financial institutions are also loyal customers of their cakes.
Quality, safety, and trust are the foundation of Asha’s values. A special room for cake preparation, two refrigerators, and a secure environment with only special ingredients for cakes are set up to ensure quality. Asha initially invested just ₹2,500, which was used to purchase a small mixer. Over time, the revenue from the business helped her purchase the remaining equipment. Asha’s hard work, built on a small investment, has turned her dream into the success it is today.
Asha aims to keep the prices affordable for everyone while maintaining goodness and trust. For her, Milans Pastries is not just a business, but a sweet journey that reaches out to many hearts through every cake she makes.
