If someone were to ask what creature has been talked about the most in India lately, many would jokingly say, “The cockroach.”

But have you ever wondered why the humble cockroach is so fascinating?

Throughout history, many great inventions were born not just from hard work, but from the human desire to make life easier. Sometimes, what people call “laziness” is actually the beginning of creativity. The desire to find a smarter, simpler way has changed the world.

So, this is a story for those who are often called lazy, slow, or different. If you’re someone who believes success only comes through endless struggle, this story might challenge your thinking.

        Let me begin.

Millions of years ago, dinosaurs ruled the Earth. They were thousands of times bigger and stronger than cockroaches. Yet today, dinosaurs exist only in museums, while cockroaches continue to survive almost everywhere on the planet.

        LALU MALAYIL – MOTIVATION SPEAKER

        That tells us something remarkable.

Survival isn’t always about being the strongest. Sometimes, it’s about making the smartest choices.

        Now imagine this…

        One day, an advertisement appeared:

“Cockroaches Wanted for Immediate Recruitment at a Poultry Farm! Attractive Salary. Eligible Candidates Apply.”

The news spread quickly, and hundreds of cockroaches rushed to attend the interview.

The interviewer announced that there were three job categories.

The first job offered a salary of ₹50,000 per month.

        The second offered ₹25,000.

        The third offered only ₹10,000.

        Naturally, everyone became curious.

The interviewer explained the first role.

“The ₹50,000 job is to feed the chickens every day.”

It was a risky assignment, but the salary was irresistible.

Nearly 80% of the applicants immediately chose this job. They were attracted by the money, believing that higher pay automatically meant a better opportunity.

        The second role paid ₹25,000.

The responsibility was to peel garlic for the restaurant attached to the poultry farm.

The work seemed safer and easier, though less rewarding financially.

Around 15% of the applicants selected this position.

        Finally came the third option.

        The salary was only ₹10,000.

        The responsibility?

Simply entertain visitors who came to the poultry farm and restaurant. Sing songs. Dance. Make people smile.

        Most of the applicants laughed.

“Who would work for such a small salary?”

Only two cockroaches—about 5% of the applicants—accepted the job.

        People mocked them.

“What lazy fellows! They don’t want real work.”

        Months passed.

Six months later, someone visited the poultry farm and wondered what had happened to all those cockroaches.

The first group—the ones earning ₹50,000—had completely disappeared.

        Why?

Because while feeding the chickens, many of them were pecked to death. The high salary came with high risk, and they underestimated the danger.

The second group was gone too.

Day after day they peeled garlic until the strong smell and harsh working conditions eventually destroyed them.

But what about the two cockroaches earning just ₹10,000?

        They were still there.

        Every day they sang.

        They danced.

        They entertained visitors.

        They enjoyed their work.

        They earned their salary.

        Most importantly, they survived.

Now, before you misunderstand the story, this isn’t encouraging laziness.

        It teaches something much deeper.

Never choose a career only because it pays more.

        Ask yourself an important question:

“Can I truly enjoy doing this every single day?”

If a high-paying job demands skills, courage, and sacrifices you’re not prepared for, the salary alone won’t guarantee success.

The happiest and most successful people are often those who genuinely love what they do.

When you watch a great cricketer batting, it never feels like he’s working—it feels like he’s enjoying every moment.

When a legendary singer performs, you don’t see effort; you see passion flowing effortlessly through music.

        That is the difference.

The greatest innovations in history were often born because someone wanted to make difficult work easier.

Fanning by hand became exhausting, so someone invented the electric fan.

Washing clothes manually was tiring, so someone created the washing machine.

Grinding coconut and spices required enormous effort, so the mixer grinder was invented.

The world moves forward because creative minds constantly ask one simple question:

“Isn’t there an easier and smarter way?”

        That’s not laziness.

        That’s innovation.

        The lesson is simple.

        Don’t mistake creativity for laziness.

Don’t chase money without understanding the risks.

Don’t measure success only by salary.

Instead, find work that excites you, challenges you in the right way, and gives you joy.

Because when you truly love what you do, work stops feeling like work.

        Every day becomes meaningful.

        Every challenge becomes exciting.

        And every reward feels earned.

The greatest blessing in life is not merely getting paid.

It is getting paid for doing something you genuinely enjoy.

When passion meets purpose, success is no longer something you chase.

        It naturally follows.

And perhaps that is the greatest secret behind a life that is not only successful—but truly fulfilling.
