Once struggling with the challenge of excess weight herself, Sneha’s personal fitness journey began after childbirth when she gained a significant amount of weight. That one visit to the gym became the turning point of her life. As she began seeing results, what started as curiosity gradually transformed into a deep passion.
Though academically a B.Tech graduate, and professionally involved in that field for a while, Sneha wasn’t fulfilled by a typical job. Instead, she decided to make fitness a core part of her life. She earned professional fitness certifications, invested time in learning, and set a clear goal for herself.
During the COVID-19 pandemic—a time when many abandoned their dreams—Sneha took the boldest step of her life and gave shape to her vision, launching her own gym under the name Dark Gym City. The first branch was opened in Kuriachira, and later, the second in West Fort, Thrissur. She took out a business loan and invested around ₹75 lakhs to bring her dream to life.
Sneha isn’t just a businesswoman; she’s also a fitness icon, having won both the Mrs. Thrissur Gold Medal and the Mrs. Kerala Gold Medal.
Dark Gym City stands out for more than just being a unisex gym. Its core focus is on customized training plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Special timings and services have been designed especially for women, as well as for those with health concerns or aiming for body transformation.
The gym primarily emphasizes Strength Training. Additionally, it offers:
- CrossFit classes
- Cardio training
- Ice baths
- Sauna baths
- Robotic recliner massages
- Chromotherapy
Currently, Sneha’s team includes 18 trainers, both male and female. For women who prefer female trainers, the facility offers that option as well. Although Sneha herself initially led the training sessions, she has since shifted focus to managing the growing business full-time.
Dark Gym City uses JERAI, a premium brand of gym equipment, to ensure the best workout experience. Sneha’s future plans include:
- Launching more franchise outlets
- Opening a women-exclusive gym
- Expanding to multiple locations to support clients who travel long distances to access her facilities
Today, through her two thriving branches—at the sports center in Kuriachira and in the Fort Palace building at West Fort—Sneha has built a powerful fitness business in Thrissur, empowering lives and redefining what it means to live fit.
